Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
Marcel may be able to help here but these Maisto models look very much like the Matchbox series MY FIRST MATCHBOX

I spotted this one at the Wellington toy fair last weekend.
It looks like a copy of MB58 Faun Dumper first seen in the 1977 collectors catalogue.

Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
Interesting Maisto marketed those 'Look-a-like' Matchbox models. From 1986 into the early 1990's, they were selling this Silver Spirit Matchbox 'Look-a-like'.
This has the 'MC TOYS' logo on the base which is part of 'MAISTO' and despite it's looks, is not made from Matchbox tooling so is not a direct copy. It was also sold through UK Tesco stores as 'MINI CHAMPIONS' and as an 'EDOCAR' version in a special (very flimsy!), double window box.

This one looks familiar..
Another model from Guisval that strikes an uncanny resemblance to a Matchbox model.

Another favourite...
...this one is by 'PLAYART' who have copies of many Corgi and Matchbox models in their catalogues.

Ghosty, do you have the catalogues?
If so can you please show the pictures of the copies.
I have two of these bulldozers in different colours and one on the blister card. It might even be shown in earlier pages of this thread.

Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
Sorry Steve, I do not have any Playart catalogues, only partial listings of the range. I don't know if Googling for them will bring anything forward.
When I decide to put a Playart model in this thread I have to try and find a picture that matches the description on my list and check to see if the Playart is a copy of a Matchbox, Corgi or Dinky.
Playart's version of the concept Mercedes-Benz was interesting because at first it looks like the Corgi model because that is more well known than the Dinky model, but despite both being based on the Mercedes C111, they are different!
It turns out the Playart is neither, it has been copied from another (Italian!), Mercedes C111 model car and is only close to the Dinky model!
