Off topic - need help with a british meals name

Post by Miller »

There was nothing in the TV worth watching it in the last days and i once again took out my Downton Abbey CDs. I share the fascination for this tv-series with a lot of british people and i can´t wait for final season six *cry*

In two show they are talking about a meal called "cattery", which seems to be something for breakfast. I´m not shure, how to write it right, so i wrote it how i hear it. I doubt, that this is a translation mistake, because we don´t have a word like this in german.

Using it the way i wrote it, Google shows themes about cats, but i can´t believe, that they eat cats for breakfast :D

Can someone shed some light on this?

Oh btw - no spoilers please :D

Remarkably there are numerous food websites around Downton and the 1940's menus used on the show.....what you are after is kedgeree.....see link below.

But tell me, how can someone eat fish at breakfast? Image

I must say, that i´m not a great fish eater, but if, it wouldn´t be at breakfast...

I´m not a big fish fan anyway. My mother loved to serve cold fried herring in vinegar and that made me hate fish. In later years i found my way to the one or other kind of fish, but its a long way :D
