Ford Escort Dinky Car

Post by ellie23 »

Have acquired this dinky car, and spent a couple of hours looking on the internet for any info on it but had no luck, does anybody know anything about it, are they hard to come by, would love to know if I have a rare dinky!! The doors, bonnet and boot are all opening ones, there are some marks on the car so its not in the best of condition, thanks in advance

Hello Ellie.
Dinky launched a range of 'Action Kits' in 1971, by taking certain models from their normal production and breaking them down into component form. The Ford Escort was released as kit number 1006, in Mexico trim. I suspect the model you have comes from this range and has been painted to the owner's taste. It is not a particularly rare model unless the plastic interior seats moulding is Black.

Sorry forgot to say the seats aren't black, they are light pastel blue

With that colour seating it sounds like the model was originally the 'Mexico' version.

It looks to have been done quit well with the non-standard wheels and extra driving lights at the front, can you post a picture of the front please.

Thank's Alex and thank's Ellie for the front detail. I think that looks great, nice set of lights fitted rather well. What is your plans for this model, Just keep it 'As Is' or do you plan to repaint it to your choice.

It looks like the person who painted it etc did a very good job really, I aren't a collector of dinky's, I haven't decided what to do with it to be honest, thanks so much for the info too
