When I was at college one of my friends was into painting dungeon & dragon type figures. He was really good at it, and was unimpressed by the basic repaints I did on old toys, because they didn't have weathering and shadowing, etc. He offered to do something with a scrap Matchbox Victor I had, and this was the result. Not to everyone's taste, but the skill in painting such tiny detailing is clear to see.

This is the kind of repaint I did at the time, certainly much more basic, but I still added extra detailing compared to the original.

Matchbox made some nice items in the 80s, and I enjoyed detailing a few of them. My favourite was this Escort. Painting the badging on the bootlid was rather fiddly.

Here's a |Corgi Juniors Transit which has had similar treatment. Wheels are off a Hongwell Porsche!

Nowadays I tend to just collect rather than restore and modify, which is a shame in some ways.

I like the Escort 1.6i, reminds me of my real XR2 I had in the 80s, that thing was pokie :D

My dad had 2 XR3's, one got stolen and was found burnt out, the other one I rolled into a field and was written off...........the good old days!! :lol:

lol...the XR series were very popular, the XR4i Cosworth was a beast and is still a sort after classic today, they did one up some time ago on Wheeler Dealers, great programme.

Those all look incredible!! The wrecker in particular stands out to me.

And that zombie-apocalypse car looks so cool!

And the Vauxhall should have been used on Mad Max :D
