Post by brian »

been looking through my old matchbox cars in more detail and my 27c cadillac has a small hole in the base plate near the back wheel.also the back wheels are wider.any thoughts what the hole could be from?

Finding odd wheels on the Cadillac is not uncommon but the hole in the baseplate is quite unusual, I would think there was dirt or maybe an air bubble in the dies when it was cast.

Poor flow of the liquid metal within the mould, quite common and on your example, just within the limits of the model being rejected.

Yeah! Mike is right, with big holes like that in the floor, you'll not get that through an 'MOT'... :D
