Ash Tray

Post by Visitor »

I was at GB Antiques in Lancaster which is a huge warehouse like building which houses what must be hundreds of dealers who sell what looks like bric-a-brac, and for the most part it does seem to be just junk, but when you look closely you can see very desirable antiques and collectables. I noticed an ash tray with a Lesney car on it. I had bought on a previous visit an ash tray and a box also in pottery painted black both of whom have a 1929 1.4 litre 'Supercharged' Bentley on it. But I have no idea what car is on this tray.

Can anyone help?

Part of the Lesney Giftware Series. Lesney examples are always on the small oval Wade ashtray and can have fine tread tyres as in your example, or coarse tread tyres. The model was also used by Stanley Plastics in their paperweight and lighter embedments under the Traspalite name. As can be seen they also used the painted version of the model from the Yesteryear Series.
