Lledo.

Post by GHOSTHUNTER »

Considering the origins of Lledo, it is largely ignored by collectors regards reference books being published. I have this one shown below and it also includes Matchbox. Not the best reference book but a handy guide to what Lledo models have been made. I am sure there are more upto date books now available, but I don't collect general Lledo models so have not searched for more books.

Dr Ed Force is more well known for his Corgi and Dinky Toys books and he has applied the 'TOYS' nomenclature to this one, but really we see them as models.

The method of binding is not the best, as well read editions tend to be rather flimsy and you get the feeling that pages will detach from the spine if you are not careful!

Amazon has one for sale here...http://www.amazon.co.uk/Matchbox-Lledo- ... KZVE23A097

Probably the reason that there are so few reference books is that the factory had a connection with Ray Bush who ran the quartly magazine " Lledo Calling " from 1984 to 1990 (21 issues) and R.D.P who produced the Lledo guides and from 1990 to 1999
"Days Gone Collector" that included " Days Gone Gallery ".

nice magazines to have !

I remmeter it was not well received that Ray went from a Matchbox magazine to a Lledo magazine.
All had to do with his connection with Jack Odell and probably he also want to write about a UK made product.

I bought many models from Dr. Force's personal LLEDO collection (only to sell them off a few years later when I sold off the bulk of all my die cast collections).
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

I stopped collecting Lledo (only Days Gone) in 1996 when the company was sold and Jack retired/ left .

The first Lledo show held at Sandwell (west midlands ) 1990 by Transtar R.D.P/Lledo , one of the only times Jack was there to open it on time .
