would be great to meet up at one of the fairs .go most weekends if there no more than 1hr and half hours away.i live not far from heathrow so motorways are handy.dose the british diecast forum ever meet up ?.

You're a bit too far South for me, but not too far from our glorious (56-year old!) leader. If you and he could arrange to meet up at a SE England toyfair, perhaps he could cast a professional eye over the models concerned and give us an expert opinion.
As regards the VBD meeting up, we have tried to arrange meetings at toyfairs. I believe there was a reasonably succesful one at Slough recently and, in the past, meetings have been held at the NEC (but have now petered out).

i would be more than happy to meet nick at a toy fair to have a look at the cars.have been going through the rest of the cars and trucks i bought at that auction found a 61 ferret scout car with chisel rivets.now i have joined the forum been looking at some of my old cars in more detail and my 27c has a small hole in base about 1mm.

Hello Brian, GHOSTHUNTER. here.

At a recent toy fair in Windsor, Berkshire, three members of the forum did meet face to face and other members were there in attendance, but were missed through mismatched times, so a pre-organised meeting of forum members could be arranged at certain toy fairs.

Then at another toy fair in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, I was there and "tjlglass" who had a table was there and Nick, our leader was also there.

Later at Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, I met "nearlymint", so we certainly get around.

What toy fairs do you go to, or can get to in the south of England?

Even though this discussion of chisel cut Rivets concerned only uncommon chisel split base rivets, I have two variations of the 25D Ford Cortina with chisel split roof rivets. I have both the early round hole plastic window insert and the oblong hole plastic insert that are held in by a rivet that was split directly in half with a chisel to hold them in before the base was installed, and their base rivets were then spun in the common Lesney manner. Although uncataloged as of yet, other members will certainly find they may have others in their collections or spares that they have never noticed till now. I have been looking for another to send Nick for over 2 years now, but I have not given up yet. Kwakers

have been to a lot of the fairs lately, slough both of them,crawley,potters bar ,beaconsfield ,reading,sandown, brentwood and kempton.was thinking of going to Aylesbury Winter Toy Fair on sunday.some seem better than others.

Depends which specific model they are on,a few are known for them..........others could be fakes unless the stem is clearly unspun

That's good news Brian, I will have to get together with you at one of those toy fairs you mention.

Not expecting to go to many more this year, possibly the one at Slough in Farnham road and possibly the one at Huntingdon, can not confirm this at the moment.
