Japanese Black Box Set 1-9
Re: Japanese Black Box Set 1-9
Nice comparison shot Rob. It may be the photo, but the one on the right also seems to have a duller tampo and bumper, I wonder if this is a result of moisture, either damp conditions or possibly high humidity? If the paint was a factor it's possible that the tampo would be affected but would that affect the brightwork? There's also the possible effect of storage in plastic cases to consider, but I can't remember if there was ever a conclusion about that theory.

Thanks John. I have taken another look at the one with the matt finish and the tampo print does look somewhat duller, but I am pretty sure that this is because the shiny gloss finish on the left hand model accentuates the tampo look on that model. I cannot see any difference at all in the tampo prints between the two models, just the gloss and matt finishes in my opinion that creates the difference.johnboy wrote:Nice comparison shot Rob. Interesting comparison. I have had a few models with the tacky paint but do not know their history so not sure why. It is annoying at best but I cleaned with windex and they came clean and lost most of the tacky part. I am sure the environment has an effect. Low humidity here so maybe this is a lucky thing?

"Another one that is tough to find Is the #33 Muira with DD wheels and black base I was chuffed to get my hands on this example below."
I have only one and It came in a MP-1 Multi Pack. Many years ago I bought about 25 of these sets and while 3 o4 4 of them had the unpainted base only one had the black base.
I have never seen another one except this one so I would say its a VERY hard piece to find.

Agreed and I got involved in a bit of a dog fight to get my example so it wasn't cheap, I just kept thinking "when am I going to see another one anytime soon" ?Rob wrote:Agreed Bob, very hard piece to find.bobbo13 wrote:"Another one that is tough to find Is the #33 Muira with DD wheels and black base I was chuffed to get my hands on this example below."
