Preproduction models on Telly!

Post by GHOSTHUNTER »

Anyone see the Antiques Roadshow on BBC 1, Sunday 3rd April. n ex member of staff from the Northampton offices of Corgi Toys showed a bunch of 'Pre-Pro' and colour trial models. Valued on Camera, a couple of Hundred Pounds.

The Gentleman then said he had another couple of Hundred models at Home, but many of them have been given to Grandchildren for them to play with... :o

He valued the table lot at 1000 - 1500 - bit more Kevin than a few hundred. Check them out here

Wow what a Great Antiques Road Show clip that one is!! Just imagine if those were Lesney Pre-pros that were being held by a single man. He would be recognized by someone using modern facial identity computers, found at home and robbed of them all. I doubt that I would have commented on how many others I had at home until the estimator valued those models that were on that table, it all seems very stupid of him to have done so. If I were a serious Corgi collector, I think I would have to be on an airplane pretty quick to that man in the U.K....... WOW!! kwakers

I often wonder when they give these type of values - some old girl turns up with a diamond ring etc. and is told its worth 15,000 quid - she then has to get home with said ring in her handbag most likely - definitely dodgy

Thanks for sharing - what a great find.
Does anyone else think that valuation was a bit on the low side?
I'm not very knowledgeable with Corgi and would like to hear from any Corgi collectors (if they're not already on a bus up to North of England).

Some interesting bits in there, I'd expect the bus to be around the £400-500 mark . The unspun models havnt got the foggiest :)

Much more interesting is the gold rockets mercedes (hard to tell but looks the same color as the rockets gold jag), the 2 solarbrite gold husky DB6s . On a good day theyve got to be about a £1000 each.

The gold painted Husky jag is interesting too, looks the same as my 2 Corgi Growlers.

The other Husky & Juniors look to be be run of the mill but can't see them well enough to be sure.

Like everyone else I'd want to see what else he has tucked away. Can't help feeling these may turn up at auction sometime soon.

I have just clicked on the link and got a server error message, so this could be why "Fox" is not seeing it.

It still works for me but it took a good minute before the video started. Before it was very quick.
