petethesweet wrote:Hi All, About six months ago I was foolish enough to get caught with a PayPal scam they had about £3,000 out of my bank account. I tried to close my account down at the bank but the fraud squad insisted I kept it open I was also told by the bank to keep my account open or I would lose my street cred & lose out on some benefits. They said they would keep a watch on my account to see if anybody else went into it, like heck. A few days later we went down to the bank only to find that somebody had set up three more direct debits. We had a word with the fraud squad again, after one person had milked the account they sell your details to somebody else. We got all our money back, very upsetting. There was also an elderly lady in the bank who was in tears & in a terrible state as she had been scammed out of £8,000 felt really sorry for her Pete
I'm sorry to hear that Pete, some peoples lives can be destroyed by these scams.

sometimes it seems easier for the scammers to get at your funds than you can .....
i had an issue with AOL not a scammer but taking payments for a service that finished for a further 6 months , the bank could/would not stop the payments as it was set up via a debit card and it was up to AOL to stop requesting payment ......they "generously" gave me a 3 month refund as this is their policy it took the threat of going to T.V's Watchdog that got the balance back
