Hi Pete! Most of the time I have seen a matt finish on a Lesney toy it is usually a coating from long term unprotected display in a house or cellar. All Lomas Ambulances were painted in gloss finishes varying from a pure white to a cream colour on their bodies. The Lesney factory paint is pretty tough and durable, but there are also some cleaning agents that will damage the paint finish and turn it to matt as you describe. Lesney wheels can be either a light gray plastic, or sometimes they were cast in a real dark gray plastic. Without pictures, we cannot tell if your model has been tampered with. kwakers

I believe there may be a few very early unlisted variations on the Lomas but they are very rare and hardly ever seen.

I have Four videos saved of Ralph's (Grizzly), collection, I'll have to see if I can find the Lomas models.

I have looked through the videos but have not found the lomas, but the picture quality may be masking the matt body finish or it is one model Ralph decided not to auction from his collection.

I also had a look on his website but only found a Silver-Grey wheeled version here...http://www.matchbox-grizzly.heicon.de/
