27c Cadillac sixty special

Post by nearlymint »

Not sure if this has been noted, but I have added a picture showing the axle stops added to the body to the rear of the model.
So far I have only found this on bonnet type 3 and 4 from Nicks listings, maybe it was added when the brace for the post was added.

This is a new casting variation for me.
If past experience is anything to go by, there was probably a short run of castings with only one of the modifications. (Forward planning does not seem to have been Lesney's strong point.)

Nice spotted Jason. I have metioned this variation on 19.3.2011 but on models with the red base plate (the variation is on the model with black base plate also). I think that the axle stops should prevent the friction of the wheels.

Thanks Antonin, I must have missed that one. Do all your models with brace have the bonnet type 3 or 4?

Very good question Jason. I have checked it and there are 5 types of the bonnet:

1) no arrow, no front brace, no ridge, no rear wheel braces
2) with arrow, no front brace, no ridge, no rear wheel braces
3) with arrow, no front brace, no ridge, with rear wheel braces
4) with arrow, with front brace, no ridge, with rear wheel braces
5) with arrow, with front brace, with ridge, with rear wheel braces

It could be an unlisted atribute of the bonnet 3, anyway you are right Hugh, it is completely new casting variation of the bonnet.
