My Y9-1 has been questioned about authenticity on ebay.

Is it genuine or is it fake?

My Y9-1 has been questioned about authenticity on ebay.

Post by micullee »

Seriously, I'm not trying to draw people to my auction!

But.. I had a question from a bidder as to whether the model was a repaint. His question: Maybe I'm wrong, but It looks like repainted, are you sure that this model is not fake?
If you have a box , please to send photo.
I responded asking for specifics on what made him think it was repainted, I haven't received a response.

I only sell Code 1 items on ebay and I need to cancel this listing if there is any doubt about it.

I know I'll get honest opinions here, so if you have time, please take a look. http://tinyurl.com/okrvodd

Thank you.

It looks good to me too, and it has a black baseplate which makes it quite rare.

Not my area of expertise either, but it looks fine to me too.
My guess would be that it's all to do with the black baseplate. Either the Ebayer doesn't know his stuff and is questioning it because of the baseplate, or he does know his stuff, hopes you don't, and is trying to get it for a bargain price on the grounds that it's a (partial) repaint.
Oh well, it takes all sorts.

I'm sorry to drag this on, but I received this response from ebayer: I'm not sure as I wrote, but I have a doubt regarding of base plate, which is black. Please to pay attention, that inscription is spoiled (for example: MADE....), but it was repainted, and the missing part of the inscription also was repainted. Otherwise it would be without painting. Thus, only it was questionable.

So, as Idris said it is the base plate paint he is concerned about. A direct link to the shot of the base plate: http://tinyurl.com/lj4un6h

I need a MOY expert!

MOY expert here and there is nothing wrong with the model !! The baseplate can be matt black or gloss (I have seen and have both). The guy is nit picking as just a slight mis- casting to the raised letters and to totally paint the base plate black it would have had to be removed. This is almost impossible to do without damaging the maroon paintwork/metal around the insert which is a very tight interference fit onto a small peg. The model is a scarcer version to find but wouldn't class as rare as a few pop up now and again as most do not know the value of the model.
I would add comments to the auction and tell if not happy about it then don't bid but offer refund to anyone not happy and returned at their own postage expense.

Moyboy,

Thank you very much.

In no way do I mean to diminish the value of Nick, tjl, or Idris opinions, but as you say, you are a MOY expert!
I believe I have a "no hassle" return policy, but I'll be sure it's clearly stated.

Thanks to all.... case closed.
