This clearly shows sunfade. A chemical reaction also would have effected the still red parts in the wheel wells.

If it were me Birdy, I would leave it as it is, there are plenty of this model on the various auction sites to get another better example and then you can do the same comparison picture as "Fox" has when the subject of faded models crops up again, as it most surely will.

I agree, a restored model would lose more of its worth than a sunfaded one.

Or you could make a "Corgi Great Book" code 3 as shown on page 77.

Any idea of its value as a much faded example as sliding scale of values doesnt seem to refer to fade bit more to chips,missing parts and state of packing.For instance if a very good unboxed example of this model was £100 what would a very good condition but badly faded model be worth and also the value of this faded model repainted to a good standard in correct shade.

A faded model will be seen by most collectors as just a 'Play Worn' example and there will be no Monetary value in it. A faded mint condition example (technically they don't go together, but for the benefit of this discussion they can), may have some value to the right collector, but again he will see it as play worn and only offer a minimum price.

A model restored to factory finish will never command the same value as an original, but collectors who can not do the restoration themselves will be prepaired to pay for one, if they can not get an original example for whatever reason and the price will be based on what value the restorer puts on his work.

I sometimes buy very slightly playworn models.
But wouldn't buy such a faded model. No value for me.
(I bought the sun faded Jag for the suitcase set it had. (£6) It is still somewhere in my flat, probably with my daughters toys because It is interesting to show what sun can do, as I did on last page.)

I have most of the chipperfields now so got this one as it wasnt expensive and not having another - will attempt to get another in correct colour .It amazes me how many of these models still survive in very good condition as though thousands were just used as ornaments ,most of my corgi/dinky would have been well abused in first few weeks of ownership and covered in mud and sand.
