Morris Minor: reunited.

Post by kbean63 »

I thought I'd lost this little bugger. I hadn't seen it in years but recently while going through some of my stuff in the cellar I found it. This time I'll put it with the rest of my collection where it belongs.

nice find!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

That's better than pulling out your winter coat for the first time of the season and finding $$$ in the pocket! :D

Neat little model. I know of at least two of the real thing in my area, too.

Now if I could just find my no. 13 Dodge wrecker truck, the one with the green cab and the yellow bed... probably in the same place as my Greyhound bus with the clear windows, lol. Actually I am missing a no. 13 Dodge wrecker but not in that color scheme. I hoped it would be with the Morris.
But I am glad to find the Morris, in addition to being my oldest Matchbox it's also a souvenir of the year I lived in England so it's got some sentimental value as well.

That's why I keep so many models, sentimental value, not for their Monetary value.

I hear ya. Even the ones that I buy now for my collection are sentimental in a sense, they're usually ones that I coveted but never had as a kid, ones that I cherished but lost, or ones that I loved but they got so beat up from use that I wanted to have another one in better shape. I sometimes wish I could afford to purchase more mint condition models but I'm on a limited income now. If it were just the monetary value I'm sure we'd all be collecting something more lucrative like gold or diamonds.

If you watch E Bay closely for very nice models that are closing at very odd hours of the day or even in the wee hours of the morning, some Near-Mint bargains are to be found even with your limited hobby funds kbean63. If you do not focus on specific models or castings, but you watch for underdescribed "Sleepers" being sold by non-dealers or non-collectors, a nice collection can slowly be built up over a few years time. Local Flea Markets or Toy Shows can also be a source of a few well picked reasonably priced models, so be very patient and enjoy some great memories when you stumble upon an unexpected "find". Just like your prized Morris Minor, years cannot dull the joy, memories and smiles these toys bring us when we as adults get to "Play" with them...... :D kwakers
