corgi 426 Booking office

Post by birdy »

Are there any known colour variations apart from different shades of red ,i have a brown version - light brown hinting on a salmon pink - somewhere in between.I would have to say i think it must have been repainted but it looks so natural and no hint of overpaint etc ,the finish is exactly as you would expect a vintage corgi to be ,slightly playworn but no hint of any red bleeding through .All transfers look ok has flat disc wheels and no damage to windows or roof panels . Cost £20 so a good buy whatever its history.

It would really be nice to see pictures of the item before any comment can be made.

i have trouble with the posting of pics - probably my age and senile dementia . I have managed it in the past after 3 hrs of trying and many failed attempts but forgot how i managed it .I have seen repainted versions of models before and its normally fairly easy to spot hat they have been repainted . This model has lots of small hard to paint areas that would need expert steady hands not to cause some sort of overpaint , baseplate doesnt look to have been removed ,

Birdy is talking about the Chipperfield circus mobile booking office just like this example sold by Vectis.

I am not sure about the colour Birdy is describing so a picture from him would be helpful.

There you go, you have managed to post a picture to the forum. It was however of a very large file size so I have reduced it for you.

My initial impression is severe Sunfade, because the artwork of the Clown and the internal artwork seen through the side window is very bleached out showing very little colouring. A clue to it's age are the early smooth convex wheel rims, taking this example from the 1962-63 production period.
