This pack is not sealed, would it have left the factory with these models?

I think Lesney had not a strict content for these 5 packs. There were may be 1-2 special ones (like the Mercedes, blue Wrecker, gold Rolls-rolls [which was released in Japan, too, I think....Ghosty?! :D] or the light blue Siva Spyder plus some more) and the rest of the set were random models. These models made (or still make :D ) the sets more attractive for customers. Mattel uses the same concept these days for example for their 10 packs: one awesome model issue you only get with this set (e.g. metallic blue karmann Ghia) and the other 9 Models...aaaaaah yeah. :? )

There wasn't a strict packaging order in the tesco packs, too. In the todays 5 packs every model has its own, non-varying place. I think this started in the 90's.

But as Johnboy mentioned: if the pack is not sealed, we can't be sure what was the originally content.
So 99% is just speculation ;)

Greetings,
Linus

Yes, the Gold Rolls-Royce has always been seen as a specific Japan release model from 1977 and 1978 only, how this relates to the dates of the other models seen in the same pack I am not certain without checking, but I would not expect to see a Japanese issue model in my local Tesco store when doing the Weekly shop... :D

I picked up my gold roller very cheaply at a toyfair in the 1980s. My guess is that it came from a Tesco pack rather than from Japan.

1980's seems a logical date for the Gold Rolls-Royce to be available in the UK, but must be leftover stocks from Japan. This same model was in Bulgaria across the 1985 and 1986 period.

Thanks you two.
I share the view that the roller was sold in tesco packs and in Japan both.
Of course we can't be sure to 100% because lot's of the Tesco packs are not sealed. But I have seen more than 5 of these packs from different sources including a gold roller.

All in all I still need one

Very nice, I don't own any two packs. Here's my little trio of Mercs.
