As I mentioned in another thread about this toy fair, I had never been before and I probably would not have gone this time, if it were not for an invite from "YYS4BOB", thank's Bob, glad I went and very pleased to meet you at last.
As a collector of Rolls-Royce models, I was expecting to find a couple of models I have been chasing for a number of years, just a few variations of examples in my collection, but to me, rather important models, especially a 24c Silver Shadow saloon regular body conversion to 'Superfast' wheels.
Not a single model on my little list was seen! and in fact I see a lot more general Rolls-Royce models at smaller toy fairs, no Y-7 in gold and red, no Y-10 in white and purple,(only one in lime green and grey), two in all-silver with the maroon seats, five Y-5(1) Bentley's, five Y-5(2) Bentley's,(two 'Giftware' versions), no early Y-6 'Fire Engines' but three later versions in 'Straw' boxes and four Y-15 Silver Ghost's.
The smaller models consisted of many examples of 44a with all wheel types, all in very near mint and a couple in 'as left the factory' mint and about the same number of 44b, but only with BPW on the lilac body, no silver-grey. Several beaters of 24c and 69c Silver Shadows, three 31h Silver Clouds in playworn condition and one 'AVTAK' in a tatty box, but the model was good. A couple of 39e Silver Shadow II models in boxes, both in near mint condition, but I only spotted one 66 Silver Spirit!
There really was a lack of Rolls-Royce models from all the well known brands, like Corgi, Dinky and Matchbox etc.
I did however pick up a few Silver Ghosts, two of which I mention above, a Y-15 'minter' and a Y-10 'minter', niether with a box but only £1 each and while both examples are already in my collection, you can't ignore them at such silly prices and a Y-5(2) but with a '3' race number decal, again for just £1...wish all my models could be purchased for just a pound!!!
I also found a Silver Ghost from Spain, in plastic by 'EKO' also for £1 and what looks like another silver-grey 'CRAGSTAN' Silver Ghost, but isn't, (see more details on this in the 'Matchbox copies' thread) and finally for the plastics department, a 3 litre Bentley from Italy, made by 'POLYTOYS', the cream coloured model in the picture below.
