Looking to contact Lesney ex employees

Post by nickjones »

Via email

Hi Nick

I hope you don't mind me emailing you? I've been looking at your site about Lesney Matchbox toys. This might come across as a weird request, but do you know of any previous employees of Lesney's. Ideally anyone that would have worked there years ago 1969-1974 or who might have had a relative working there or possible web sights giving info on the building etc. It's a small chance & sorry a weird request. My Dad used to be a mould & tool maker there & sadly has recently died of an asbestos related disease. We think he may have come into contact with asbestos when he worked there as the factory was in very bad condition.

I'd be very grateful for any info that you might have from your interest in Lesney's match box toys.

Thank you for your time.

Kind Regards
Tara Stevenson

A ticking time bomb that has many of us waiting and worrying. For those who smoked during the time of exposure, it nearly always catches up with them.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

I smoked for 40 years but gave up before a magor heart operation 8 years ago.I went for a chest X ray a couple of years back.....I was diagnosed with COPD but the Doctor pointed out a little of what looked like coffee grains in the bottom of one lung and asked if I had ever worked with Asbestos? I said I did in 1965 for two days we where playing in it like sand some stuff that had come off an old boiler on the head of an ex coal mine..She said it still there after 50 years but wasnt doing any harm the COPD was down to smoking for 40 years and was glad I stopped as I probably would not have been here for the last 7 years if I had carried on.

Maybe a good reason for some to give up smoking.......

Re the Matchbox employees. That could reap rewards if some of them get in touch..They may not be aware of the scale of collecting that is based round Matchbox/Lesney....Lets hope some good comes our way from this enquiry....
