Dibro tanks
Dibro tanks
Ok I know they are not Diecast however I thought you may all like to see these early 50's Dibro tin plate friction driven tanks, made in England.

Thery're nice mm, I wonder if these were part of a set. This link is interesting, especially the Dinky reference:

I guess it was brothers who set the company up (Ghosty?)

Thanks for the information JB, they are great fun and the friction wheels still work!
I don't think they are that common. These are the first I have come across.

Alex, these Tanks are a bit of a departure for you aren't they, have you completed your 'Superfast' collection and looking for something else...

Re: Dibro tanks
Actually Kev, this afternoon I was sat in my dentist chair getting a tooth extraction. At the end of the procedure he handed me a bag with a load of play worn Diecast including these 2 tin plate tanks. He knew that I was a big Matchbox collector and told me that these toys were his late grandfathers and he asked me to find out something about them, and so here we are. I plan to provide him with a detailed list of all the Diecast models and these tanks and include some history/background info for each model, I hope that way he will appreciate the small collection of models his grandfather left him And then maybe he will hold onto them rather than hand them to a charity shop.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:Alex, these Tanks are a bit of a departure for you aren't they, have you completed your 'Superfast' collection and looking for something else...![]()

mm, for a split second I thought you were going to say that after the procedure the dentist handed you a bag of teeth
Have fun with the research.
