Delete Private Messages

Post by GHOSTHUNTER »

There will come a time when our 'Private Messages' folder will become full and we will not be able to read new messages until we have deleted some old ones. I have put a few screen-grab images below that show you what will happen and what to do to delete some messages.

This first image shows a message about the folder is 100% full and if you know a new message has been sent to you it will have additional text saying a message is on hold until space is made available by deleting an old message.

This image shows the bottom of the messaging area once you have scrolled down to the bottom of the page. All you do is click the check box next to any old message you want to delete and you will see a Black tick mark appear in the box. Now click on the little down facing Black triangle next to where it shows...Mark/Unmark as important and a drop down options menu appears, now click on the...Delete marked and click on the Go box next to it. There will be another confirmation of your action box to click, but after this the message(s) will be deleted.

The old message(s) have now been deleted, go back to the area shown in my first image, just under where it says...View messages: Inbox, there will be text in a slightly different colour which will be informing you that you can release a message on hold, you click this text and your new message will then be placed at the top of the messages list where you normally see them.

Any problems, give me a shout.

Thank You Very Much for this advice Ghosty. I am in need of doing some deleting as soon as possible, so this schooling will come in handy tonight. That black triangle exposes the delete option, who would have even thought of that?? I can't even pretend I could have figured that one out on my own without you..... :D kwakers

Hi Dick, just take it nice and easy with the instructions, I have tried to include everything but until I myself have to delete old messages it was difficult getting the instructions in the right order, I hope I have done, but give me a shout here if you have problems.
