Model arrangements.

Hi all,

I like to arrange my models in different ways. There are so many combinations possible, and I try to make the colours and model shapes compliment each other.

Here’s an arrangement of some of my models. I’ve used a sheet of cardboard (5ft x 4ft) as the base. Its colour and texture are fairly neutral, and I think it sets off the models nicely.













Please feel free to add pictures of your own models in different arrangements.

Hello matchbox360, really good pictures and a good way to show models of this size, they remind me of the picture in the 1967 catalogue and I had always wanted to recreate that scene, now I don't have to, you've done it for me...

Glad you like the pictures, Ghosthunter. I must admit, I was inspired by those mid-70s Superfast catalogues with 2-page spreads. Thanks for the '67 catalogue image.. the resemblance to my 1st pic is uncanny! It shows how visually effective a well-thought-out arrangement can be.

it certainly is fun taking photographs that could have been period catalog arrangements.We have seen before how careful Lesney were arranging a rainbow of colour in model order & row order without clashing or 2 similar adjacent for their store displays once the concentrations of military & yellow models had been removed in the mid 1960s.These are toys and taking photos can actually be the most fun way for us full grown collectors to get these out of our displays and play with them! In the past I have tried photographing all metallic & candy shades together and then enamel shades together -blending both well is more challenging especially with these mid 1970s generics + concepts which have no obvious connection beyond their role in the 1-75 series

Many thanks John, SMS and Steve, I really appreciate your kind words and feedback! Yes, arranging my models in new, inventive ways is always a challenge. One of the many joys of our hobby is just looking at and admiring our little beauties from all angles. BTW, fantastic record sleeve you posted, Steve.. love the way the car-shapes make up the words 'Sing a song of motor cars'!!

I think I'll call it a day for now (end on a high note, lol) and give others a chance to show off their wares. C'mon, I'm sure there are some 'master arrangers' out there!
