Just put on a bid for a non-diecast with no problems.

Hi Pete, yes we've all been thru this at some stage. The safest is to use a bid sniper for all Ebay bids and ure guaranteed that they will bid on your behalf and at your stipulated highest bid amount.
The other alternative is to watch the clock and bid about 10 secs before closing cos u have to allow for internet lag possibilities.
Hope this helps,
numi

Hi Numi thanks for the reply. I have been on ebay for 14 years brought & sold loads. When placing bids last night you couldn't comfirm bid & something came up to refresh page then you had to type your bid in again but you could not see the seconds ticking away. I always wait until 10 seconds if its something I really want' I usually put on a few pound bids to see whats going on. Last night I put on a lot more than normal as they were a few nice bits I still felt like I was bidding blind I don't know whether its ebay or me Pete

Just had a quick look and I see what you mean. The timer is missing when you click through to confirm your bid.
That's really annoying!

Hi Hugh i'm glad its not just me. A couple of weeks ago I brought a matchbox from the states paid straight away had an invoice back. In the morning had email from ebay saying I had not paid please pay now, I thought it was a spoof so didn't bother with it no money had been taken out of my paypal account until three days later very strange .
