Right, back on topic! If all goes to plan, I will start listing here sometime later this winter.
Re: liquidating part of my collection - advice wanted
I would have no problem in paying the shipping as long as I would manage to buy more than just a single model!

Buy in bulk, that's what I say. I am predicting over 300 MIB regulars will be available to you guys. I will be keeping the really rare stuff and a good pile of my favorites.
Re: liquidating part of my collection - advice wanted
I have found that with honest friendly E Bay Sellers (and a few members here), that we can wait for a month or 2 and bundle purchases to save on both local and international shipping Alpha. I like slow and cheap shipping anyway, so there has never been any problem with Postal losses at all.
If you list 10 models at a time at the Marketplace, some may sell and others may not. Tim is my favorite Seller there, and I see that to be the case with his sales there. Gary from Newfoundland found shipping individual models got way too costly when going overseas, but even a large package was only 40 U.S. for me just recently. That large package may contain 15 models when packed right, working out to 2.50 U.S. each. As others have said, Postage costs matter very little when we are buying quality models that we are in need of for our collections.
It is a shame you hadn't published your interest in an E Type a year ago Alpha. A friend of mine had a rust free unit in pieces that he bought cheap from a man returning to England 2 years ago. He sold that for college money, doubling his money but still way below the wholesale market. The Jags are common to find hidden away, but that Lotus sounds very rare over here. I must look that one up just for my own knowledge. My advice is to test drive your dream cars first before buying one. You may find the performance and comfort are not what you or your wife are expecting. Better to know that before the collection gets sold and the cash is spent. A collectors Club for whatever marque you decide on is a good place to find leads on very clean original cars. kwakers

Re: liquidating part of my collection - advice wanted
I test drove an E-type many years ago before deciding on buying our Porsche 356. I absolutely loved it then, and want one more than ever now. The only reason I passed was down to practicality. The Porsche was my daily driver from 1999 - 2011, never letting me down once. I lived in downtown Portland at the time, and nobody ever messed with the car. If I bought the Jag, it would have probably not made a good daily driver, and it might not have done as well being parked outside every day in the city.
I am surprised the Lotus Exige is uncommon in your part of the world. It's basically an Elise with a few hardcore mods.
Anyways, I am starting to go through my collection this week and hope to start photographing soon. I will list them here first.

Re: liquidating part of my collection - advice wanted
I just started pulling cars and boxes from my display case.
You know, it's real difficult parting with these. Regular wheels have always been my first love in 1/64 diecast. However, the money tree isn't growing in the back yard and I need to make some choices. I'm 48 years old and really want to experience many things while I can. The wife and I travel whenever we can (India last May), which is where our extra cash goes. So, if I want another real car, I have to make some sacrifices.

We all understand that that is why I tell my wife that the cars are only worth something to me just small toycars to others. If I need some cash I sell now and then. But it is very hard to sell and I have atleast 5-8 regrets for some that I sold, but life is important and if selling some of your cars can get you a real E type, I for one 100% understand. The fun part is also finding them66alfa_gtv wrote:I just started pulling cars and boxes from my display case.
