Huge attic find Over 60 Matchbox Series Models in box

Post by runnerrasket »

Hi all,

My friend Granddad past away and him and his dad have been clearing out his house.
In the attic of the house they found many Matchbox series Models Mostly 1-75.
There are over 60 of them in boxes some are like new some are not.
I have helped him to list most of them on eBay.
They are all individually listed with many 9+ pictures.
They all start at 99p and the duration is for 10 days.
There are a few more to list but his account is maxed out til next month.

Thank you for bringing these to the attention of the Forum.
I'd noticed them dripping onto Ebay over the last couple of days and guessed that it was probably a small, older collection being sold on. As you say, may of them are in fine condition and I note that you have gone to the effort of taking multiple, in focus photographs of each model. You should do well.

Welcome to our Forum runnerrasket, and Thanks for the heads up on this Great discovery and offering on E Bay. Perhaps some history on the prior owner's collecting of these models can be added later on, the story has as much value on the models as their sale sometimes.
We actually have a separate category of Posts for E Bay offerings that you are unaware of as a newbie, so no foul or gripes on your new Post will be expected. I am off to breakfast now with my 3 boys, so I will review these offerings later with many Thanks to you from this Yank! kwakers

Welcome from me too (an ex Essex boy). You're Granddad certainly looked after these models, good luck with the auctions.

I've noticed a couple of the models were incorrectly identified. The #11 tanker, the #21 bus and the #23 caravan are all "B" models a NOT and "A." The #27 low loader is NOT a "B" model but in really an "A."

The Jaguar sedan has the silver mask sprayed license tag. Everything else seem pretty common and run of the mill. Some are in very nice condition.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

The Seller might have already changed that #11 Tanker Joe, it is identified as a "B" now.
My biggest problem with these VERY well done and pictured listings is with the expectation of a buyer being able to pay "INSTANTLY" when all these auctions are just ending. I have never heard of such a requirement being allowed at E Bay because of the various time zones all over the world that effect each Buyer differently. The auctions all seem to close mid-day here in the U.S. when us Yanks are at work in our normal daily jobs. Are these model's sales restricted to U.K. only in order not to have your just won prize almost immediately 'offered' to the back-up Buyer as is stated in the text of all of these listings? It seems that invoicing by the Seller to add shipping and such would add some extra time to each sale, thereby invalidating such an "Immediate Payment" demand anyway. In over 13 years on E Bay, I have never seen such wording on any one auction there, let alone on every single Item from this Seller. :?: kwakers
