Removing paint
Hello Tinman,
There had been a great thread on the Lafora VBD site about how to remove non-factory paint from models (ideally without removing the factory paint).
Any tips you and others can offer?
Thanks for your advice.
Kurt

Re: Removing paint
What is the model? Older models have pretty hard paint, newer ones don't. Let us know exactly what model you are working with.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Some child thought it looked better in red than white.

I would try lacquer thinner using cotton buds. You will very likely loose any silver or gold trim (and the tail light details). If it has plastic wheels, keep the thinner away from them.

Re: Removing paint
Brake fluid is fairly safe and it will not harm plastic wheels or windows provided you don't leave it on for too long,
Nail polish remover will remove overpainting if applied with a q-tip using a gentle scrubbing motion.
Lesney used a cellulose type of paint sometime around 1964 onwards which is not as robust as the earlier enamel. Thinners and nail polish remover should not be used on cellulose paint, Brake fluid is ok but again do not leave it soaking any longer than is absolutely necessary.
