That is a huge relief Alex, considering I amputated the SF wheels.............

Hello Gerrit
Since you've recently done customizations of a RW and a SuperFast GT40, did you find any differences in the castings?
Any differences besides the base plates?
Thank you
Kurt

Well Kurt I did not examine the casting of the body in detail. But there are other differences of course. That mainly concerns the suspension of the wheels and the interior.MatchboxFreak wrote:Hello Gerrit

Having removed the SF wheels there is this plastic suspension construction riveted to the base plate. I use a new axle (see pic)
which is slightly thinner than the original RW axles. That thinner axle just snaps into the claws of that plastic suspension, like the SF axles used to do, and then it sits just fine. The original somewhat thicker RW axles do not fit into the claws, and they destroy the construction.
Because the axle I use is thicker than the SF axle, the suspension parts are sitting a sniff higher than normally.
At the front there is ample room but at the back the underside of the engine block needs a little adjustment. Meaning I have to remove a small amount of metal with a file. And next it sits as snug as a bug in a rug.
Finally the new axles I used are in fact small nail rivets. The advantage is that it has a dome head and a small kerbing which keeps the wheels in place.
