Lessons to be learnt by bidding early.

Post by tjlglass »

I recently got a rather rare model through eBay without actually winning it, I put my high bid in very early and waited for the chase to begin. After a few days I was still highest bidder at .99p I then got a phone call from a very good friend who was actually the owner of the model but I never knew his eBay ID asking if I wanted to buy it off him which I obviously said yes to. He had had a few people making offers to him (against eBay rules) and decided to offer it to me at a sensible but fair price. I have had many dealing with this person and always looked after him so it was nice that he returned the favour. This is one of the reasons I always put my top bid in early nowadays and let people chase, well that and the fact that I often forget to bid as age is getting the better of me lol.

Tim,
Thanks for sharing this Ebay experience and glad to hear that it had a great ending -- another example of what "a small world" it can be sometimes!
Can you share what the model is (picture?) ?

Thanks,
Bill

Timbo, it is good to hear that this transaction worked out well for you. I know you have done some favours for me in the past selling some rare variations and it is good to hear that there are other people out there who give consideration to their collector friends.

It was the #74 pre pro bus Bill, it's on another thread. The irony being that not being a Reg wheels collector he nearly threw it in the bin lol.
