Kwakers 9d Model.

This model 9d is a great model to have in ones collection it was sent to me with many unlisted models in Stannards by Dick (kwakers) for my collection thank you very much.

I can keep all the others but this unglued 9d he wants returned and I do not blame him, it really is a wonderful piece to have.

Very nice George and kwakers. I rather like seeing mint models in component form, nice and factory fresh. This boat is going to be one well travelled model. UK to New York then to Australia then back to New York and all without getting the hull wet.

The significance of this model in pieces is that it has survived intact for almost 50 years complete, but in pieces Dan. It was never glued together at the Lesney factory, or later by any child, Dad, or even a collector to make it the useful or collectible toy it was meant to be. The clear window unit is also with it, but not shown in George's photo. I bought it unboxed from a Toy dealer at the Carlisle Car Show in Pennsylvania several years ago. It amazed me at the time, and is still one of my favorite Lesney errors that somehow got past Quality control on the belt and was boxed for sale. (We need a sleeping smiley for that belt inspector!....LOL
The other point of George's photo is that now our Forum members will become aware of the separate boat pieces that can also be found in other colors, NOT simply sunfaded plastics as some have assumed for many years, (Just as you suspected on your Tan floored, dark green decked Boat you showed us here in George's casting Show Dan).
The hull unit can be found in pure white as this is their stock color, or in a uniform and distinctive cream color which is very hard to find. The white hulls can "Yellow" with age or Sun exposure, but when you see one in a uniform cream as Christian has shown us in a picture he posted, you will know it is an original oddity.
The lower interior floor unit that is now shown here separate in George's picture comes stock in pure white also, or can be found in a uniform cream or off-white color, (Be careful, Ghosty wants only a single term to be used when we catalog these.... OR, a very dark Tan (that also might be called light brown by collectors in the U.K.). That dark tan interior floor is quite rare, I only have found one of them in many years of watching these Boats. After seeing George's many upper deck colors and shades at Nick's site, these Boats became a fascination to me that I still enjoy to this day. Thanks Again George......Dick

How about a clean deal? I say leave this boat where it currently resides with Mr Marshall and i will give u another desirable RW model of your choice (excl the Big-5) for your collection.Does this sound good Kwakers?

I think this may be the only time in my life to have to say no to you Numi! This is one of my favorite error models that I personally discovered, and it continues to give me pleasant memories of my friends at Carlisle every time I see it on it's shelf in our collection. As your subnote says, all the money in the world cannot bring me the contentment this model has since I found it at Spring Carlisle in 2011. It is pretty impossible for me as a serious detail collector to part with any of the many unique Lesney pieces in our collection, (no matter what condition they may be in) until a duplicate of that error or variation is found some time in the future. Mick calls us (Greedy) "Completists", some call us Hoarders, so I answer to both terms...
My point in sending this Boat in pieces to George is stated in my above post on it, and to possibly even have George's picture of it featured at Nick's site. This will let future collectors know how each piece of it can, and have been found in the assorted colours I mentioned. I have some interesting colour combinations, but Dan's dark Tan floor with dark green Boat deck in George's Casting Show is one I had never seen and now wish to find for our collection.
Sorry Numi, George now has a few more models he had needed for his collection, but not my cherished Boat in pieces. kwakers
