11c Another great gift.

Post by kerbside »

This 11c has the hard to find model with the Domed rear wheels I have looked for quite some time for these variations.

Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

I think that's overstating it a bit. Yes, you are right, examples of this model are few and far between, but that is at least in part because the design of the rear wheels is so hard to determine in almost all photographs of models offered for sale.

I agree with Hugh's comment. Also, there are more of them out there and, like many others, are often overlooked. An entire set of these wheels can be found on the 63 Alvis Crash Tender and the wheel is far more rare on the Alvis than the Jumbo Crane. The wheel had a fairly widespread use for such an "odd man out" sort of design. The following castings used them: M9, 6c, 11c & 63b.

The only photo of mine that I could find is this odd angle close up.

I have only ever heard of two examples, with what may be a third appearing in some period Fred Bronner adverts.

I have limited experience with RW models so I would appreciate a comparison shot with a domed and normal wheel if anyone can assist?
