Commer Pick-Up Mk VIII #50a Red/White

Post by Kiov »

I just received this #50a in the mail today and i just want to confirm that this is a legit Commer It looks suspicious to me, It has heavy paint and also on the base it has a deformation next to the rivit, Here's some pictures of it:

Hi Kiov,

This one looks fine to me - I think just normal wear and tear has led to a bent base. Colours and spray masking look correct, as does the rivet. Nice find!

Cheers,
Gavin

I agree with Gavin about this looking original.

The thick paint can be seen on the roof, but may be due to Lesney putting Two coats on the model if the first was not completed due to a mechanical fault preventing a full spraying.

It is probably the off white as opposed to the pure white variation.

Here is an old comparison picture taken during a visit to an eminent collector's home back in 1994:

It is certainly possible that there are even more different shades in existence.
