Moving Matchbox Room!

Post by durangokid »

Over the past several weeks, I have been working on moving my Matchbox collection/Displays from a "bedroom" to a lower level room with more space. It has been quite a project, but I am making progress. This change was started after a visit last Summer by fellow VBD Forum member, "Kay" and his suggestion for the move. While I NEVER thought my wife would agree, she surprised both of us and said, "go for it" :D so that is what I've been doing with all my spare time!
Here are a couple of photos of my early progress. I have spent much additional time doing some additional cataloging and need to get working on updating photos, etc.
I will try to post some additional pictures as progress proceeds......................... I may also "poll" the forum on some display options as time goes along......... I am a big fan of original store Matchbox Dealer Displays.
Thanks again to my friend, Kay! It is a LOT of work, but is well worth it so far!

Bill

Those displays look great Bill, I'd certainly like to see some more photos when you get the time.

Bill,

yes, it was quite a surprise when Renee agreed to my suggestion! (gooood wifey!!!!)
But this room was just like being made for displaying the collection - quite some space in there, cold in the summer, with no direct sunlight, and warm in the winter.
Oh, and it has the big TV set and a couple of sofas....and with an additional supply of some beer, it's even great for a little football-watching party!

Maybe I can come over for "The Grand Opening", when the room is finalized and ready for inspection.....?

Blimey, I don't envy you Bill, but I am sure you'll succeed with the move, just don't drop anything or lose a model, you'll never forgive yourself.

Very, very nice tease there Bill! Unlike Kay, I've never had the pleasure of a Durango Kid collection tour, so this little photographic snippet really is much appreciated.

Looks great so far. I wish I had the space for an old dealer display or two!

Beautiful displays Bill, I too am looking forward to future updates! We passed through Durango several years ago while in the Western US - seeing this makes it feel like we missed the premier attraction in town!

Cheers,

cool pics Bill...would love to see more!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.
