aveling barford 1b

Post by Henk »

Hello,

I wish everyone on the forum a happy New Year!

I bought a "1B Aveling Barford the second road roller"
In one of the rear wheels a, smaller wheel is present.
The usual colour is light green, but this one is, as you can see, dark green.
Therefore I thought it was the 1C.
Does this mean it one repainted, or is it original?
The axis appear to be original, therefore I think it's a genuine one, but I'm not sure, therefore I would like to know your opinions.

Best wishes,
Henk from the Netherlands

The left road roller is the 1B, and the right is the one that I bought, and not sure about the originality. As you can see the driver is completely green.

The body colour on this model appears to be somewhat inconsistent, which indicates to me that it has probably been repainted, at least partially. Also the driver should normally always be brown on this model.

That additional smaller roller on the rear axle is something I have not seen before and cannot explain.

Looks to be a 1c to me and in the darker green than the 1b, as mine is. It almost looks as though there is a half of the two-piece front wheel stuck to inside of larger rear wheel. Error piece?

Is the comparison model the same size or larger?

I agree with Jay, it looks like half of the front roller has got stuck inside the rear wheel and has just been assembled by an operator dreaming of getting Home for Her Tea and has not noticed the error!

the comparison model is the same size.

Is it possible that the axles are renewed?
