33c Lamborghini Miura

Post by Idris »

Neither the NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition) nor the AIM's “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983) contain any variations not already listed by Nick. The same is true of both Stannard and Houghton.
U.K. Matchbox did not examine the model.

Thanks to Dick (Kwakers), I am aware of a moulding difference between early RW and early SF interiors: the former have an additional step, about 1 mm wide and 1 mm high, running either side of the transmission tunnel at floor level and forward of the seats. (N.B. This enables genuine white-interiored RW models to be easily distinguished from fakes created using SF interiors.) It is unclear to me whether the moulding was changed as part of the conversion to SF or whether the change was earlier. (Was a new interior required in order to accommodate the new axles and suspension? Time for one of Antonin's surgical dissections methinks!) Either way, we need to allocate the different interiors to each of Nick's variation codes - information please!

Very nice spotted by Dick. Really there is step by red interior on both sides of the transmission tunnel. I have never noticed it.

But I have RW yellow model with red interior and without any step. I am not sure when the step was omitted, during the production of the red interior or during the production of the white interior or there is a transitional period.

i have 10 regular wheel miuras and 8 have the low step and 2 have the high step..they are gold miuras with white interior

i have 9 superfasts and all the red and white interiors have the high step but one...that one has the red interior and low step like the regular wheels model

i thought i had more of these
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

I see the assotiation with the wheel arch without block/the step and wheel arch with blocks/no step, by my models.

Since we think the blocks are there in order to prevent Superfast axles deflecting too far, so acquiring a permanent bend, this would imply a link between the change to SF and the retooling of the interior.
