Y10 Rolls Royce
Y10 Rolls Royce
When I got home today, this one was waiting for me.
Mint model and reasonable box, but more important for me, front axle braces and the single (center) line rear; one I was looking for.

Re: Y10 Rolls Royce
Nice example Gerrit, it looks to be very mint. The Brass effect plating on these do turn a horrible dark Brown and I have not found a way to clean this to bring back the brightness.
I find this to be a very interesting model having been introduced in December 1969 and deleted in 1984, there are quite a few variations to collect. I have not yet posted a variations listing on the forum, just a few bits 'n' bobs somewhere in the 'Yesteryear' thread.

Now I'm half-tempted to buy one with nasty brass plating (cheaply, of course!) and attempt to restore the shine. Gerrit's model is beautiful, indeed.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:The Brass effect plating on these do turn a horrible dark Brown and I have not found a way to clean this to bring back the brightness.

Hi Squid, can I ask you to become more than half-tempted, say...fully-tempted, to go and but a nice dirty Y-10, clean it up into a nice bright sparkly specimen and show it here, then you can tell me what Acid you used...

I won't back down from the challenge...the search is on! Of course, it'll have to be a cheap example.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:Hi Squid, can I ask you to become more than half-tempted, say...fully-tempted, to go and but a nice dirty Y-10, clean it up into a nice bright sparkly specimen and show it here, then you can tell me what Acid you used...

Re: Y10 Rolls Royce
If you were in the UK, I'd bring one round to your house for you to try, but postage to Calif, would be far to expensive for such an insignificant small item.
On a different subject, can we have details of the lovely Cat in your Avatar picture, thank's.
