Included a totally appropriate Kingsize in this compilation. The open wheelers all look nice. Read where the green Maserati was the only instance of Matchbox replacing one model (Series 1) with an older model - think it dates from 1948. Beautiful example all the same.

GT40 is not out of place. Couldn't include the white VW Bug with side decal numbering - rally car not race car.
I also like the set or promotional photo Matchbox did with BP fuel tanker, Refreshments Caravan, tow truck and emergency vehicles.

Jagged together - the big Cats look nice.

Never liked these - RAF tanker is a nice blue. A pall of dull khaki over the lower half of the display board. My recollection from the sixties and not much has changed. Some kids at school then still re-enacted "Combat" at lunch time. No one wanted wanted to be "Jerry" or "Hun." Not much into war games or pushing tanks and APCs around in the dirt.

Fifties and sixties a different era, memories of war still recent. Can understand if the two Smiths wanted to pay homage to their service days. I preferred the excitement of an Anglia with a swept back window. Few years ago I was working out of Korla, near Urumuqui in the Taklamakan basin, far North West China. At the airport saw a Chinese version of the Austin radio truck. Still operating Korean war vintage Mig fighters. Decided against any pics being a military airfield.

Recently someone published a list of run dates - the Scout car or APC I think was close to the longest running 1-75 model of all time, 9 years from memory.

I am not into collecting these either, but to see them in the format you have chosen is good and they do make a nice collection together, thank's for adding them to the thread.

What else is coming I wonder...Vans with brand adverts or a series of service vehicles such as a breakdown truck with a car, a Police car with a robber's getaway Jaguar or buses and coaches if we have not had those yet.

And a nice site it is too Rodger - I often use it for reference purposes when sitting in the barber's shop checking models - I cross reference with Nicks Site, Stannard and Schiffer where possible and try to include these details when writing up pages for my own web site

Thanks Ian, planning to do a revamp of the whole site when I retire in a few years time. Can only look and admire the professional look of yours & other sites.
I started some years ago to learn HTML coding and applied that to create the site (hence home grown feel).
Welcome any ideas for website creation from those who have had experience in creating a model focused site.

The trailers. Love the articulated ones, reversing them in. I wanna match a red Pontiac two door with the Honda trailer and fancy a white Mustang with the blue and white boat. The tractor trailers and Merc #2 speak for themselves.

I like the Landrover with the horse float. What do you think? What is best for the Refreshment van?

I would go for a British Family Saloon car.

Yes.
In my display cabinet I use my burgundy Jag 3.4 saloon. Mainly cos it has broken tow hook.

I am thinking the Hillman would be more appropriate.
