8a Caterpillar Tractor, issued 1955, length 41mm, box type B.
8b Caterpillar Tractor, issued 1958, length 42mm, box type B.
8c Caterpillar Tractor, issued 1961, length 48mm, box types B-C and D.
8d Caterpillar D8 Tractor, issued 1964, length 51mm, box type E.
8e Mustang (Ford), issued 1966, length 74mm, box types E and F.

8c models metal rollers, and Black Plastic rollers, no Silver Plastic roller model.

8d the tall and short exhaust stacks. they come with-out a hole, or with a hole in the base.

The two different key way shapes on the base the one that is flat on the base only appears on the first model casting.

With solid BPW and chrome hubcaps on the top the other one on the bottom has chrome hubs and Black Plastic Tyres

the one with the decal was kinda cool...so i left them on the car!
the red with black hood model was a filler until i painted one red/orange...then

i got a real one in a trade with Jason (nearlynimt)

Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

I thought some of you might like to see the 'Patent' drawing for the #8 Ford Mustang steering mechanism. I also have the patent claim for this but won't post that unless you really want a tiresome read...!!

Here is the 'Claim' section of the whole patent, leaving out the 'Description' section which again is a bit long. The 'Claimants' were Ronald Thomas Perryman, Frederick Noel Rix (the inventors), and Lesney Products Co Ltd.

Fred Rix worked very close to Ken Wetton and they can been seen together in at least One Lesney press picture, measuring a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost in the Measham Motor Museum.

Angularly displaceable....... Lawyer speak for "it turns " that's why they charge so much it's for the extra ink to make up the longest words possible :lol:
