Corgi/Husky Lot of 13

Post by cody6268 »

Awhile back, a member on Swifty's Garage, another board I'm also a member of had just put a lot of 13 Corgi Juniors/Huskies up for sale on the sale portion of the forum for $20. Since my Corgi Jrs/Husky collection used to be quite small (less than half a dozen before this, I think), and I already had a number of the models in that lot on my wanted list, I snapped it up just after posting. The whole lot arrived today.

Corgi Whizzwheels Land Rover Pickup and Corgi Juniors Rice Horse Box (transitional model with Corgi Juniors label on base).

Corgi GP Dune Buggy. Bright Orange one is a Rockets model. I wasn't familiar with the real thing until an internet search. Apparently, it's a kit buggy with a VW Bug chassis.

Husky VW Pickup w/Platform. One of my favorites of the lot, and part of the reason I got the whole lot.

Husky S&D (stands for Shelvoke and Drewry) Refuse Van.

Corgi "Whizzwheels" Range Rover Police. Was purchased as an upgrade to one I already had, but as you can see it is a variation. This one has a white interior, while the one I already has a yellow one.

Corgi "Whizzwheels" Heeler Wheeler. I am not a fan of this casting, and I had one in horrible condition already, but since I do collect emergency vehicles, so I figured since it was already in the lot, I might as well upgrade.

Corgi "Rockets" Aston Martin DB-5. My favorite non-farm equipment part of the whole group. Also, it may be my favorite small-scale Corgi. Reminds me of the first issue of the larger scale James Bond DB-5.

Corgi "Whizzwheels" Wigwam. I like this casting for some reason, and wanted one, even though it is a little weird.

These two tractors were my favorites of the whole lot.

Corgi Juniors--Massey Ferguson 3303 Tractor. Massey Fergusons are special to me as my grandfather owned a 50 model well up into the '80s. We've been considering buying a vintage Massey Ferguson tractor for quite some time. This is my second Corgi MF, as I also have the larger 50B (the other version without loader), since the model number is the same as my grandfather's old Massey Ferguson. I wish they used the same shade of yellow as the 50B though, I'm not a fan of this lemon yellow color.

Husky--BM Volvo Tractor. Always wanted one of this Corgi model. Hitch is bent, but I'm not going to straighten it, fearing it will break.

There were a number of these dune buggies whipped up back in the 1960s, the Meyers Manx being the most famous. Usually about ten inches was removed from the VW chassis so that the body could be fitted. I have no idea if the Corgi buggy was based on an actual vehicle or was the work of an in-house designer.

You got a pretty good deal there. I like the Volvo tractor and the refuse truck especially.

Hi Cody, you did well with that little collection and finding crossover models is quite common with the Husky/Junior/rockets ranges. I think my favourite model you have shown above is the 'POLICE' Range Rover as it was a fantastic casting in the bigger 'Whizzwheels' range but they managed to shrink it for the smaller range and kept all the detail.

Can you show us your Red Midgetoy Ambulance I spotted in the background in a few of your pictures please, that is a fascinating looking toy, thank's.

Some nice models there. Perhaps there's better Midgetoy resources about, but I had saved this link some time back and it's quite interesting:

I like your dark red S+D, they seem to be much scarcer than the blue ones
