Holiday in GB

Post by Malibu »

Hi,
my wife and me want to spend our holiday in Great Britain from 05.09 to 25.09.2015.
The plan is to go by ferry from Calais to Dover.
Because I do not want to drive to much on the roads there (because driving on the wrong side) I thought about a place not more than about a hundred miles away from Dover.
There should also be the possibility to go for a day trip to London by train and it should be at the sea or not to far away.
Dose anyone of you have any suggestions where to stay?

somewhere like Brighton might suit as it's on the south coast not too far from Dover and has a direct rail link to central London

Would highly recommend Canterbury & surrounding area http://www.canterbury.co.uk/?AskRedirect=true (just us A2) from Dover.
Lived around there for 15 years and great area - lots of coastal walks, historic places and great wining & dining.
Good rail links to London and sea towns such as Ramsgate/Margate/Thames estuary - Rochester.
Inland - Leeds castle
