Yesteryears package?
Yesteryears package?
Hi,
as a child I was in hospital it must have been in 1971 I was 5 years old.
My grandparents brought this three models for me as a present.
In my mind this three models where packed in one package.
Is this possible or is my mind playing tricks on me - I was not able to find a package with this three models yet.

Re: Yesteryears package?
Lesney marketed Gift Sets always had four models in them, and none had this combination of models. However one of the US stores sold Gift Packs (SEARS?), and I've seen these with all sorts of combinations and suspect they were a "select your own combination" type of thing. Still four models though. I have those below in my collection.

They may also have been a "let's shift the obsolete stock" type of thing!YYS4BOB wrote:However one of the US stores sold Gift Packs (SEARS?), and I've seen these with all sorts of combinations and suspect they were a "select your own combination" type of thing.

Hi,
thanks for your answers but this is not what I have in mind.
I thought about a karton and blister pack with this three models.
But perhaps it is just to Long ago.

Re: Yesteryears package?
I am not aware of Three models being put together on a single 'Blister' card from the 'Yesteryear' range, that's not to say it does not exist, but having been involved in the hobby for a very long time, I am sure by now examples would have turned up within the collecting community, especially now with the widespread use of the internet.

The only 3 model set with models from the '60's was the Golden Veterans set as far as I'm aware.
Window box with outer sleeve.
Marcel is the guru on gift sets and hopefully he will comment.

I'm no Yesteryear expert and so wouldn't dare to even think about trying to teach those Members who are how to suck eggs, but surely the three models shown ion the first post are unlikely ever to have been issued together in the same packaging, simply because the Rolls is in the hip, groovy (and completely unrealistic) relaunch colour scheme?

Re: Yesteryears package?
Just a few notes Hugh, the Three models in the first picture are pre-73 examples, the 'Yesteryear' range was re-launched during 1973 (some sources say otherwise but that's for different markets), so the Rolls-Royce is actually in it's first colour scheme as issued in 1969 until 1972. The re-launch colour was then White over Purple, an even more un-realistic colour scheme! and it was not launched until 1974.

Re: Yesteryears package?
Hugh, This is a fair point. However, the Renault was replaced in 1970 by the Vauxhall. The Rolls replaced the Mercedes in 1969. The replacement for the Maxwell was the Stutz which didn't appear until 1974. So accepting that the three models shown were all extant at the end of the type F pink and yellow box period, it is conceivable that they could all be in a common set, but I agree that it is unlikely. The Maxwell and the Rolls continued into the type G purple and yellow box. Neither the Renault or it's successor the Vauxhall (strangely) appeared in the type G box.

Re: Yesteryears package?
Separate good clear pictures of each model would be able to have each one identified, to see if they are pre-'Blister' card models. Even with my own detailed variations listing for the Y-10 Rolls-Royce, I can not tell from the picture which issue it is.
