Lonestar Firenza
Lonestar Firenza
Why is this model so hard to find and so expensive ? Any one know the history and quantity made of this model ?
Re: Lonestar Firenza
Introduced in 1972 to the flyer range, production lasted until 1976 the #7 Vauxhall Firenza is in my opinion the best looking flyer in the range of flyer models along side a couple of my other favourites, the #38 Chevrolet Corvette and the #39 Ford Mustang and therefore were in high demand. Very few have survived the years in good condition. I am aware that the Firenza can come in many variations but i will need to leave that fine detail to Reg and Kevin. So i guess its over to the two Lone Star experts Ghosty and Fixer!!!!mrmoko wrote:Why is this model so hard to find and so expensive ? Any one know the history and quantity made of this model ?

Im gonna disagree, I dont think its rare at all, desirable maybe but not rare.
Theres been 6 or so on ebay in the last 2 months, and theres usually 1 on there every week or so, to me thats not a definition of a rare model.
I'd argue that the Flyers Toyota 2000GT is a much harder to find casting than the Firenza, but its not as desirable so doesn't normally get the prices fetched by Firenzas. For a long time the Firenza was thought of as rare when trying to get them at toyfairs, but ebay has proved that to be otherwise, but its still desirable as its the only 1:64 scale of the car.
Personally I dont rate them as being a 3 figure model, theres a lot of other models in the range that are harder to find in certain colours

Re: Lonestar Firenza
it was a order from vauxhall that brought this model in to being, when the firenza was in the showrooms, you could get the model, it was normally given to a buyer or hoped for buyer to their kiddes , there is a rent acar promo, normally white with a roof sticker, i seen lots of colours, i think the most common, (if any are ) is met blue, i allso seen silver, bronze, red, white,
many years ago, a dealer i know ,was talking to a sales man at a vauxhall garage, and he was sold a box with quite a few in , all gone now, they did not handle playing with very well ,the bonnet (hood) like most lone stars was 1st to fall off , its a great model, and i agree the best lone star , just silly money even for wrecks

I simply love this casting and undoubtedly one of the more realistic & more detailed among my favorites. The overall shape, contours, body lines & scale is unrealistic.Yes,they are desirable models with a fantastic array of body colors, interiors & windows and yes they do cost an arm & the other thumb in any condition but its well worth it.

Re: Lonestar Firenza
I had previously posted a few words on the Lone-Star Firenza Here...viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1222&start=10#p12662
Additional to those notes I will add that on my 1994 Vauxhall toy and model master listing, I have a note for the Firenza being available in...
Orange-Brown (I imagine what this means is a dusky Orange).
Metallic Brown.
Metallic dark Red.
Metallic light Blue.
Metallic Turquoise Blue.
Metallic Silver-Grey.
Metallic Gold.
White Budget rent-A car.
Gold plate dealer promotional.
All the above are right-hand drive and display the VAUXHALL name on the panel between the rear light units.
Metallic light Blue, left-hand drive, but a blank panel between the rear light units.
Since 1994, more colours have been found and recorded, but I can not supply that information at this time.

Plenty to keep Reg and Numi busy there, I think there is also shades of metallic green too.

This has a bit of a cult following with prices to match although not rare it can be htf the rarest of all lone star in my opinion being the corvette stingray, and yes the Toyota 2000 is not very common
Here are mine to date darker blue with amber windows is the export model in lhd without vauxhall cast in the back panel , colour variety and combination of interiors and windows is astounding
Toyota is a quick repaint in the gift pack white
