Hi MM & All,do understand that i no longer post pics of the bases of certain rare models/prepros/prototypes on the open forum due to the fakers incl Nik Stil replicating them.Niks latest is a copy of Linus's Met Green Draguar with the erased text details and then there are mixed specimens from Davids Vectis auctions & earlier.motorman wrote:A base shot and a comparison picture with a standard issue minis baseplate would be appreciated Numi, thanks.numi wrote:motorman wrote:Very nice Numi
Unfortunately we have discussed this very subject many times. Sadly Mr Stil is not interested in marking his customs and cares not a jot that these customs are being passed on as genuine prepros by some of his own customers.fixer wrote:It's getting so that you can't show any "new" prepro models without them being faked for a quick buck
WHY WON'T HE MARK THEM IN A CLEAR WAY then there would not be such an issue

Maybe keeping a dedicated thread tracking all models with prices, photos and sale dates would be useful.motorman wrote:Unfortunately we have discussed this very subject many times. Rob i have been keeping an image file of everything he has listed this year and there has been quite a few listed. As Numi suggests it is very obvious that Nik keeps an eye on the pre pro sales both on ebay and via vectis and thereafter churns out his own custom version of that very same prepro within a few weeks of seeing it. It is actually quite scary how quick this guy can produce these customs so he must have a very efficient set up in some workshop or spare room, it is clearly very lucrative for him and with the state of the Greek economy being so poor it is no suprise that those with no morals, namely Mr Stil, will exploit every possible opportunity to make money and to F**k with the genuine collector community.Rob wrote:Maybe keeping a dedicated thread tracking all models with prices, photos and sale dates would be useful.motorman wrote:Unfortunately we have discussed this very subject many times. Exactly Reg. This forum is one of many which has turned out to be a heaven for fakers. We are truly afraid to openly show our special finds in detail for fear of replication which further plunders the interests of other collectors.I have no problem with production models but ultra-rare models, prepros & prototypes has now become a NEVER TO SHOW in detail. I do remember requesting that certain/all prepros & Brazilian be shown & discussed as/in a Sticky or Thread in the cave which certain collectors condoned but was cautioned/refused.I do understand that most Matchbox info can be attained via the internet & other platforms and that the visitors will have to be side-lined but unfortunately this is how its become. It seems that the more we show our special models openly on the forum to try educate others, the more the fakers prey for self-enrichment thus further plunging this hobby into terror zones and to our disillusionment.fixer wrote:It's getting so that you can't show any "new" prepro models without them being faked for a quick buck
