70b grit spreader, black base
70b Ford grit spreader with black baseplate, I'm not sure if this has been recorded before?

Re: 70b grit spreader, black base
This does not really look factory-painted to me but more like some private addition. However, it is never easy to judge this just from pictures on the web.

Re: 70b grit spreader, black base
I have had these pictures on my disk since 2005:
I think I downloaded them from MCCH back then, but I do not remember who posted them. I do know I had as many doubts about this "variation" then as I have now.

Re: 70b grit spreader, black base
We discussed either this or a similar example on the old Forum. Opinions fell into two camps. The first was prepared to accept that a thin layer of black paint had been applied whilst the second preferred to regard the discolouration as the result of some kind of non-factory tarnishing of the unpainted baseplate.

Re: 70b grit spreader, black base
If I'm not mistaken, didn't the gloss black replace the flat black as used on the baseplates before this model was produced ?.Idris wrote:We discussed either this or a similar example on the old Forum.
