I think that the key to answer the question: "Is it a genuine model or fake?" is in the unlisted casting modification. There are two studs under the rear part of the body. Originally both studs had a triangular shape.

then the mold was a little bit damaged, and the left rear stud had a "double" triangle shape

in the end the mold was repaired and the left stud had a wide rounded shape (on the photo).

A determination of the specific casting points that Antonin pointed out is needed. However, by the amount of duplicate models this seller generates, the odds are overwhelming that the model is fake regardless of axle ends or rivets.

Just to clear up one more issue, a couple of regular wheel models do have wheels on axles that can be removed as a set (just like superfast models).

(BTW, last time I looked at this seller’s Ebay account, he had negative feedback for a model not being as described. That has now disappeared. This is someone who knows how to play the system and cover his tracks.)

This is one I got cheap the other day as a curio ,if this is another faked one how is it done considering it's age related wear to the wheels/axles , I can see some marks on the axle ends but they look old

Hi Reg,have u ever thought about the fact that your Vw specimen could be the chrome hub discs donor for his #53 Blue Rw Zodiac silver hubbed fakes.Im not saying your specimen is a fake but check your axle-ends & lenghts,inspect the grating of the inner wheel areas as they could be simulated as being play-with,check that the wheels were never forced over,cracks etc,etc.
Also remember that this guy is a customs specialist & a re-modeller (not sure if this is the correct term).He has gone thru about 4x Silver hubbed Zodiacs thats made to seem played-with.He has gone thru 2x #28 3-line Jags and now on his 3rd Grey-wheel specimen,also looks playworn.One of his Jags seemed to have been fished out the River Thames (near you...lol) and the one Silver hubbed Zodiacs seemed to have come out the chicken-run.Both were kind of a dirty,muddy,grimy looking to throw off any suspicion.The guy was making about 500gbp per piece in "playworn" condition.He is a slimeball and sells these fakes among some genuine untampered models to win u over,hence a confidence trickster.
