SHOP DISPLAY

Post by MOKOSEX »

Has anyone ever seen one of these before, its definately for a shop and is very similar construction to other matchbox displays its just the size ,shape and number of compartments make no sense, the sticker at the top does fit exactly but looks like it was applied poorly but does look real, just not for this display :D ,are there any lesney products that this would have suited better ?,the renault i put in to show scale. The bridge thing at the top has never been fitted but again i haven,t a clue?

The sort of display for a small retailer to buy at a lower price point. He would have just one small display of models in the window and then have this on the wall with the models stacked 'End-On' as "Fixer" says, so the owner buying this is unlikely to be a major stockist of Lesney products.

Never seen one of these before, indeed the fact that the box CANNOT be stacked to display the model number and casting artwork suggests a poor design or design intended for something other than 1-75 series. The Streaker era sticker has always been used before in conjunction with white backgrounds - even SF track went white away from yellow in the Streakers years so the matching of this sticker to a yellow display seems to conflict with the SF Streakers rebranding

I also think that the sticker didn,t come with this and it was adapted by a retailer or a collector in later life, has anyone got a rear view of one of the 1/75 displays ,the physical construction is very lesney like especially the round hollow rivets,i have had herpa and smurf displays like this blown plastic, but they were totally different .

Wow this is the second time i see such a wall unit and still looks in great shape.
The first i have ever seen was my own.

I have a 1979 dealer catalogue it is listed as a DS-14 wall dispenser stock unit for "matchbox"cartons.
They must be scarce i think.
