Restring Corgi American LaFrance

Hello. Thanks to everyone in advance.

I did a search for restringing an old Corgi American LaFrance Aerial Ladder Truck, but was unable to locate anything. I apologize in advance as well, if I've missed something I should have seen.

I know that they came with instructions apparently, but alas the model I have has them not, and I can't tell if someone has just tied the strings on to make it look "right," or if they're caddy-wampus.

I appreciate any help, as I'm also not turning a lot up on web searches, than lots of other fire trucks for sale.

Although I think I have a base somewhere, I have no intention of ever restoring a Corgi American LaFrance. Regardless, bits of information like this can be invaluable and impossible to find. I'm saving a jpg.

Thank you so much! I had gone through listings, but was searching apparently only listings on this side of the pond. That's the first one I've seen that had the diagram. I'm so tired right now I think I hurt my neck trying to follow the folds, but tomorrow I'll put the .jpg in a viewer, blow it up, and re-draw in "Mk10-friendly" format.

It's funny, the new ones don't have strings at all. It's pretty cool how the vintage ones have wheels that do it. I have a 1990 edition I think, and you just pull those out to length. Thanks again!

Hmmm...

I'm looking at the blown-up diagram, and I'm not sure it really makes sense. At least it doesn't seem like if you're turning the wheel that operates the ladder extension feature, that it would cause the ladder to extend; the second section climbing skyward from the main section, and then the third section extending from the middle section once the middle section has extended.

I know I'm getting old and feeble-minded, not to mention getting more and more near-sighted as the years go by (Bless you Optivisor!), but it seems like the stringing diagram isolates the loops instead of having them work in concert to extend the ladder fully towards the flames threatening the imaginary disaster.

This is important to me, as I have many imaginary disasters that require full extension.

Does it look like it would do the full extension of the aerial ladder to you all? Since what is on it now isn't doing the "do," I was thinking of simply playing around with it to see how I might get them all to work together, but I'm afraid I might work on it night and day, see the New Year come and go, and see the first buds of spring before I found the right way to rig it.

Let me know what you think, and again, I really appreciate your help and your input. I'm starting to take my inability to figure this out personally, so boy-howdy, I just better watch my step around me!
