Early A2a Matchbox car transporter Text variation

Post by mrmoko »

Just about to strip this one when i spotted the writing . Looks to be very early . I remember seeing one with this type of writing but looked to be etched onto the bare metal . This one looks to be just on the paint . .

IIRC, when U.K. Matchbox covered this model, there was a comment about there being two different widths of stamp/stencil. I'll look for the article this weekend. (I'm working away from home right now.) In the meantime, don't strip it, and can we have a photograph of the other side as well please?

Yes, the two different size early transporter lettering styles has been known and discussed for a couple decades now.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

I remember seeing one on the old lefora forum . It was quite some time ago . A forum member showed a near paintless example but you could see the raised lettering on the bare metal .

I don't remember that at all. We may have to send Ghosty into the dark and long-abandoned vaults of the Lefora site (and that with Halloween fast approaching!)

I have some details that I think may cover the sizes etc including some images that I was going to post in Accessory section. Can post it here if you wish.
