SF64 Fire Chief Error?

Post by TOYRFIC »

Bought this on eBay for 2 bucks a few days ago.
I almost passed over it.
Then I noticed the side labels were applied in error with the star-shield towards the front!

To be honest, I really loathe this Superfast design, it makes the Woosh n Push look far more attractive!

Well for 2 Bucks its worth having and nice that you spotted it, secured it's purchase and brought here for us to see, now all you need is a collector of that particular model so you can sell it for 3 Bucks... :D

I reckon it's still a great buy Jason. One of the most disappointing thinks about this casting to me is the lack of interesting variations - so I think this one is nice even though an error really.

So it has a left sided label on the right and a right sided label on the left, is that right? :) If these were machine applied, I wonder how many are out there.

Yes, good point John, must be more out there, will be quick enough to check at swapmeets etc as just compare model against box picture.

Indeed such an occurrence is always possible for any model with sided labels, but on some it is more common than on others. On this one I think it is rather unusual.

Actually you can still find plenty of variations among the Lesney England examples of this model (not to mention Super GTs), and to me they are all interesting - labels with or without the black shield outline and with or without a border around the star, body colour shades (such as a noticeably darker red), window tinting shades (such as a very dark blue), wheel permutations, the aforementioned sided labels and various combinations of all those features.

I found one with a reversed label on just one side.

I still like this one better than some new 2015 Generics...

Not even sure what this is supposed to be...

I think it is an Airport Fire Appliance for the near future. I don't collect these modern models but I could live with this one, I do think it could be a feasible design for a real vehicle.
