Trade Fair display

Post by matchboxkiwi »

Not sure where these photo's came from. They were in a job lot of Lesney factory photo's.
They appear to be some sort of display intended for a toy fair display around the mid 70's

Very interesting displays, the last picture clearly shows they were done as themes, as it shows a military selection on the left and emergency service vehicles on the right.

I have not seen these before, a good find.

I understand the display rotated around.

Hi Steve, I really like the album, great displays too.

Let me guess the models in the 3rd pic down, top left to bottom right:

Lotus Super 7, Volks Dragon, Baja Buggy, De Tomaso, Streakers Lambo, Hellraiser, Mini Ha Ha, Fandango, Tyre Fryer, Team Matchbox, Hi-Tailer.... and the 5 models in centre: Dodge Challenger, Hot Rocker, Dragon Wheels, Datsun 126X (Streakers) and what looks like a white Tanzara (do they even exist?)

A very nice show of some rare material, keep it coming!

Hi Ken,
Wouldn't the white Tanzara be the streakers version? I think you can't see the tempo print due to that sign.

I think you’re right, Steve, it has to be the Streakers version. Picture’s not too clear, and as you said, the sign obscures the model.

Must be really hard to find a Streakers Tanzara without the tampo print. I’ve seen a Carabo one (from Mathias), and I’m sure a few more ‘unprinted’ Streakers exist out there!

Hope I guessed all the others correctly, some are just smudges of grey, barely visible!

Cheers,

Ken

Hi guys, I have taken the liberty of enhancing that last picture, does it make it any better to identify all the models, hope so,

The most interesting models I can see in these pictures are the Jeep CJ6 and Caravan pre-pros. These indicate that the display is from early 1977.
